weekend’s over

i think this weekend has been one of the longest weekends i’ve had in a while. i’ve been tryin to get some stuff done for school, and hangin out with some people.

i was hopin that i wouldn’t have to have to do my shift yesterday, since the manager said at the meeting friday that the guy on after me and i wouldn’t because the station usually broadcasts the home games on the air, but apparantly they were having technical issues this week, and weren’t able to broadcast it. that meant that we had to do our shifts, which wasn’t exactly what either of us had planned. i was hoping i’d have the rest of the day free.

earlier in the day i decided to walk to the dunkin donuts down the road from the school (since both the school and my insurance company won’t let me have a car on campus), and got kidnapped by a friend of mine and her mom. it was quite interesting. and fun. we ended up goin to the mall to go halloween shopping since my friend is obsessed halloween. my other friend and i ended up not getting anything, but it was all good. just getting off campus was good enough.
after getting back, i tried walking to dunkin donuts again, only this time i got a call from the station manager telling me that i needed to do my shift due to tech issues preventing them from broadcasting the game. i was conveniently about 20 minutes into my walk, but since i knew that they’d have hell trying to find someone to do a fill since it was parents weekend, i hauled back and did it.

i’m starting to get sick of my saturday shift. yea, it’s at a convenient time (1-4pm on a weekend, when i don’t have to worry about classes), but still. it’s basically all alternative, and not only do i not like it, i don’t even listen to it. i’m thinking of possibly talking to the manager either some time this week or at friday’s meeting (hopefully sometime before friday) just to ask him if i could possibly drop out of it. they told us at the beginning that if we had a shift we’d have it for the rest of the semester, but i’m miserable doing it. and it usually takes me more than just 3 tries to get me to dislike something, but i’m getting sick of bands like Hawthorne Heights. because they’re just too off-the-beaten-path for me.

being first on the on-call sheet sucks

so i got a call a little while ago from the guy who runs the 9-11 shift at the station, saying that he needed a fill for the show. which isn’t surprising to me, since i’m the first name on the on-call sheet for this week. it’s not the best shift, since it’s all metal, but whatever. it’s only from 9-11 so it’s not like i’m stuck with it all night. plus the guy promised to show me which ones were metal, since i have no idea who’s metal and who’s just pseudo-metal.

i got an email today from the Human Rights Campaign, and in it they talked about Alex Sanchez’s new book, The God Box. Sanchez is best known for his Rainbow Boys books, and i remember reading and re-reading them over the course of my senior year of high school.

worlds #1 roommate keeper-upper

for the record, i just want to say that it was not my intention to get sick. it was the two all-nighters i pulled in 40 degree weather that got me sick.

and last night was hell. not only was i not able to sleep, but i was constantly rolling around trying to find a comfortable position, while sneezing and trying to control a hacking cough. therefore, i am the ultimate roommate keeper-upper. and i apologize to my roommate for keeping him up.

i guess this is all, seeing how i really don’t have much to talk about today. i shall talk to y’all later.

so i went into south shore yesterday to get some cd cases for the cds i have so that they wont scratch and everything. i also got some cold medicine to see if it’ll help get rid of my runny nose. so far, no luck on the cold. the cases work, tho.

i also got an itunes card and bought some new music (like the new reba cd, which is quite good if you’re into her). i’ve put some of songs i got onto the cds i’ve made, and you’ll hear it if you tune into my tuesday morning show. should be fun.
